The Second House: Tapping into Empress Energy
The second house is ruled by Taurus, and it's all about luxury, legacy and what we value. One of two houses ruled by Venus, this side of Venus is slow. Like a switch of your hips when you walk. Honey pouring out of a container. It's not a surprise that Mother's Day, at least in the US, is celebrated during Taurus season.
Taurus is the vibe of the Empress in tarot. Or even the Queen of Pentacles. Slow, nurturing, earthy energy. The things you value in the house ruled by Taurus would be your legacy, the things that live long after you're no longer on earth. Like how artists' paintings always increase in value if the artist is no longer living. It gives Basquiat. Venus rules art as well.
This side of Venus is sultry but still wants her money. I love to use the transit of the sun and what it's currently highlighting in my chart to work on my spiritual growth and personal development. Taurus season is all about money. So this season I'm working on not just my budget and seeing what can be trimmed— because the way this economy is going right now, we need to use both practical magic and ancestral magic to make it. But then l'm also digging deep into my spiritual and ancestral practices around money work. I encourage you to use the energy of Taurus to do the same. To slow down but stack up on that money.
This is the season to revisit your relationship with money. Prioritize what feels luxurious in your body. Use all your senses, Taurus is sensual — Food, perfume, clothing, etc. Think decadent chocolate. Silk pajamas. Breakfast in bed. Brunch and mimosas. Also what does luxury mean for you? Meditate and journal around that. Also journal and meditate on how you can create stability with your income.
This is the best time for money rituals. What kinds of rituals can you create around abundance? I also love to do sweetening rituals this time of year as well. Think of one ritual that is slow and brings in money continuously using honey. Another fast one to bring fast money using sugar, cinnamon etc.
One of my favorite things to do to anchor my intention is to use crystals. Anyone that knows me knows that I love a rose quartz down, and it can be used to soften you overall which in turn softens your relationship with money. It’s also a very Venusian crystal. Malachite is a great stone and it reminds me of Cleopatra for whatever reason, a Venusian Queen. Pyrite (aka Fools Gold) is great for abundance and magnetic confidence. Green Aventurine is great for luck in money. You can add them in your purse or get some jewelry. I also love Citrine and Emeralds for money. So many money rituals you can do–money oil, money baths, money candles! Money bowls and money floor washes! Literally do all the things!
This is also a good time to look at any generational trauma around money. As we work on building legacy and generational wealth, it’s good to look to see if there are any blockages that can keep you from that legacy you’re working toward. One of my favorite ways to do this is burning ancestral money. I burn it in a heat safe bowl on my altar but you can burn it without an ancestral altar too. I say a prayer around spiritual growth and generational karma, removing karmic debt to continue to clear the generational line.
